January Conference - 2007 Corporate Patent Congress

As 2006 winds down, I'm starting to put together the conference and speaking engagement schedule for 2007. The year starts off with a bang - The American Conference Institute's AciCorporate Patent Congress 2007, which will be held in New York City on January 22 and 23. (.pdf of program brochure)

Doug and I will be on a panel with Stephen Albainy-Janei of Patent Baristas fame. We'll be talking on a topic near and dear to my heart - "Maximizing Your Corporate Patent Portfolio and Harnessing Its Value in Changing Times." Think patent reform (in all its various forms) and strategic patenting and portfolio management. Yeooow!

I think you'll agree that ACI has put together a program that promises to deliver a fascinating conference. The topics are timely and the list of speakers is quite impressive. Looks like a great investment of time and money.

Readers of Promote the Progress can get $200 off of the registration fee by mentioning discount code 662L07.SBLG when registering.

Be sure to let Doug and I know if you're going to attend...we can grab a coffee (or other suitable beverage). He apparently thinks I'm buying...but I'm counting on getting Barista Stephen to whip up a special blend...gratis.

Friday food for thought: Upcoming seminars

I've got a few speaking engagements in the coming months that readers of Promote theDunescle Progress might be interested in. On August 25th, I'll be speaking at Dunes CLE's Current Issues in Patent Law in Las Vegas. I'll be presenting an update on legislative, administrative, and judicial activities relating to patent policy in 2006 (think the Patent Act of 2005, ...the Patent Reform Act of 2006, the PDQ Act, the proposed rules, eBay, and other developments). Doug is also speaking at this event (on a topic near and dear to our hearts - strategic patenting initiatives).

You can still register for the Dunes CLE here.

We're also in the preliminary stages of putting together a conference in January specifically designed for in-house counsel. The program will be aimed at helping in-house attorneys develop effective patent strategies in these times of change, including prosecution and portfolio management strategies. I'll be on a panel with Doug and Stephen the Barista for this conference, which will be in New York City. I'll post additional details when they are available.

Presentation on patent reform in Congress, the Courts and the PTO - video now available

A couple of weeks ago, I had the Videoproductionopportunity to speak at the annual CLE conference of the Oklahoma Bar Association's IP section. I presented a broad view of patent reform, discussing pending legislation, the eBay decision and other Supreme Court activity, as well as PTO efforts to implement change.

Doug had the smarts to catch the presentation on video.  Thanks to the seemingly endless capacity of Google's video servers, you can watch the video as a stream by operating the controls in Doug's post on PHOSITA.  If you're so inclined, you can go straight to Google Video to download your own copy of the file.

A .pdf of the slides that accompanied the talk are available here.

Despite the suggestion of the image above, I didn't dress hip-hop style for the presentation. I'll save that for a future talk.
